A pair of shiny, bright twin clones Burdock was born on January 14, 2005 at Xinhua Dairy Farm, Lutai Economic and Technological Development Zone, Tangshan City, Hebei Province. Since the human lactoferrin transgene was introduced into the body, the milk produced by the two calves will contain human milk components and have extremely high nutritional value. The birth of these two calves also marked significant progress in the production of transgenic cows in China. The successful application of genetically modified cloning technology has made the prospect of biotechnology for the benefit of mankind brighter. Through gene transfer, the protein genes that are of nutritional value in breast milk are transferred to dairy cows, so that the milk contains human milk components, that is, human milk is emulsified. Some people call this cow a "grass and human milk," which greatly increases the nutritional value of milk and has extremely high social and economic value. The transgenic cloning technology is a major topic in the biological field of the National 863 Program. It is co-sponsored by the China Agricultural University, the Animal Husbandry Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Lutai Economic and Technological Development Zone of Tangshan City. Since September 2001 Lutai Xinhua Dairy Farm has become the biological experimentation base of China Agricultural University, 13 cloned cattle have been born here.
