The key to the installation of centrifugal pumps is to determine the installation height of the pumps. This height refers to the vertical distance from the source water surface to the centerline of the pump impeller. It must not be confused with the allowable suction height. The vacuum height allowed on the pump nameplate or product specification, which is indicated on the pump's nameplate, is the vacuum value at the inlet section of the pump. It is measured at a standard atmospheric pressure and at a water temperature of 20 degrees Celsius. It does not take into account the flow conditions of the suction piping. The installation height of the pump should be the part of the value remaining after allowing the vacuum height to be deducted after the loss of the suction line of the suction pipe. It should overcome the actual height of the topographic suction. The installation height of the pump cannot exceed the calculated value. Otherwise, the pump will not pump water. In addition, the size of the influential calculated value is the resistance loss head of the suction pipe. Therefore, the shortest pipe layout should be adopted, and fittings such as the elbow should be installed as small as possible, and some water pipes with appropriate diameters can also be considered to reduce the flow rate in the pipe.
It should be pointed out that when the pump installation site elevation and water temperature are different from the test conditions, for example, if the local elevation is more than 300 meters or the pumped water temperature exceeds 20 degrees Celsius, the calculated value should be corrected. That is, the atmospheric pressure at different elevations and the saturated vapor pressure above the water temperature of 20 degrees Celsius. However, when the water temperature is below 20 degrees Celsius, the saturated steam pressure is negligible.
From the pipe installation technology, the suction pipe requires a strict seal, can not leak, leak, otherwise it will damage the vacuum at the water inlet of the pump, so that the water pump to reduce the amount of water, in serious cases, even pumping water. Therefore, we must do a good job in the interface of the pipeline to ensure the construction quality of the pipeline connection.
