According to the city's farmland mouse monitoring data, overwintering base, combined with meteorological factors, food abundance and other factors, the city's farmland rodent damage will continue to show an upward trend this year. Although the overall level of occurrence will be lighter, local areas will tend to be more serious (rats Density more than 8%). It is estimated that in 2014, the city's farmland pests will have an area of 2.3 million mu, of which about 1.8 million mu will occur in the spring, and about 500,000 mu in the fall, including about 200,000 mu of re-emerged area. Affected by the warm winter, this year's farmland rodent activity will be earlier, and all districts and counties need to be prepared for prevention and control.

Forecasting

Plain Daejeon: The density of rats is 0%-3%, the average density of mice is less than 1%, and the density of individual mouse is more than 8%. The dominant rat species was Apodemus agrarius, followed by Mus musculus and Hamster.

Urban-rural junctions and facility protection sites: Rat density is between 0% and 5%, and average mouse density is below 3%. The dominant rat species was Rattus norvegicus, followed by Mus musculus, Apodemus agrarius and Hamster.

Woodland, orchard: The density of mice is 0%-3%, and the average mouse density is below 1%. The dominant species is Apodemus agrarius or Mus musculus.

Mountain slopes: The density of rats is 0%-5%, and the average density of mice is below 3%. The dominant rat species is the social mouse, and other rat species are rock squirrel, apodemus agrarius and mus musculus.

Forecast basis

(I) The density of farmland rats in the city has increased compared with 2012

1. The average annual catch rate has risen. According to analysis of monitoring results from March to November in 65 sample plots in the city, 200 rodents were captured in 2013, an increase of 39 compared with 161 in 2012. The average annual catch rate was 0.34%, a slight increase from 0.26% in 2012.

2. The number of districts and counties with a monthly average rat density of more than 1% increased. In 2013, there were three districts and counties whose average catch rate reached 1% or more in six months. In 2012, the average catch rate of two districts and counties in three months exceeded 1%.

3. The winter base has slightly increased from 2012. The average catch rate in October-November 2013 was 0.3%, a slight increase from the 0.2% in 2012.

(II) Changes in populations of pests in farmland

There were 5 species of rodents captured in 2013, namely Apodemus agrarius, Mus musculus, Rattus norvegicus, Hamster hamster, and community house rat, and one rat species (black line hamster) was reduced compared to 2012. The proportion of predominant rodents and populations also changed, among which the top two rat species were Mus musculus and Apodemus agrarius, which accounted for 30.5% and 29.5% of the total catch, respectively; the top 2 rats in 2012. The species was Rattus norvegicus and Apodemus agrarius, which accounted for 26.1% and 24.8% of the total catch, respectively. In addition, social mice have shown an upward trend in the mountains in the past two years, accounting for 11.2% and 12% of the total catch in 2012 and 2013, respectively.

(C) Environmental conditions favor the occurrence of rodents

In 2013, the winter temperature in this city continued to be high, which was conducive to wintering and survival of rats and rats. The increase in the area of facilities provided overwintering places and food for rats, and at the same time, the lower density of rodents provided more niches for the rats. The conditions are conducive to the survival and reproduction of rodents, coupled with the migratory habits and super reproductive capacity of rodents, which make the density of farmland rats rebound quickly.

Prepare for rodent control

In accordance with the five-unification (a unified rat drug supply, uniform rodent time, unified promotion training, unified drug delivery technology, unified inspection and control effect) of the rodent model organize two rodents.

From late March to mid-April, before the breeding season of rodent pests in the farmland, in close cooperation with the animal husbandry and fishery departments, a concerted anti-rodent work in spring in the rural areas will be carried out to effectively reduce the density of farmland mice.

From late October to mid-November, we will carry out unified autumn rodent control on key areas such as farmland and facility protection areas that exceed prevention and control targets, and further reduce the number of wintering bases for rodents.

Establish one or two uniform rodent control demonstration zones in each district and county, and promote the mature rodent control technologies such as poison bait station, decrement control rodent control, sticky mouse board physical control mice, and TBS, and continuously improve the technical level of farmland rodent control.
