In winter, bee feed preparation methods generally have the following types:

1. Use sucrose (white sugar) syrup to prepare substitute feed. The pot can be used to make 1kg of sucrose and 1/3 volume of water, and the white syrup made is directly fed with bees. The appropriate time of use is wintering. Suspended sugar should be stopped 3 days before the last batch of caps are released from the house. The advantage is that the overwintering feed in the nest has been transformed, but overwintering-aged bees have not participated in honey, so they can maintain the bee's activity and energy and extend the lifespan of the bees.

2. Use compound syrup alternative feed. By sucrose plus lactic acid boiled hydrolysis or enzymatic hydrolysis obtained. The method is: 1 kg sucrose plus 1/2 volume of water, and then add 0.5g of lactic acid boiled for 30 minutes.

3. Use sugar cake to prepare substitute feed. The method of making is similar to that of syrup, and sugar cakes are fed for feeding. Sugar cake made with sucrase is softer and has a longer shelf life.

The latter two honey substitutes have converted sucrose to glucose and fructose, which can be fully absorbed and used by the bees and used as overwintering feeds, and will not cause robbers when fed. Note that the sucrose used above cannot be replaced with brown sugar.
