(I) Storage conditions

The celery leaves can withstand the low temperature of -3°C, but the general requirement of the root and stem is not lower than 0°C. The suitable temperature for storage is -0.5 to 2°C and the relative air humidity is 85% to 95%. When storing cold celery, in order to increase the humidity of the environment, often use open plastic bags to package celery (in order to avoid gas damage, open the bag mouth) or put the celery in a wooden box with an open plastic film liner. Doing can reduce the moisture loss of celery. According to reports, suitable storage conditions for celery are oxygen concentration of 3% and carbon dioxide concentration of 5%.

(II) Storage methods

1. Frozen

The method of frozen storage is simple, but it must be mastered so that the temperature does not fall below -3°C. Different regions have different methods depending on the climate and coldness. The Weifang area in Shandong Province is a frozen pit on the north side of the shadow barrier. The walls of the cellar are made of plywood and soil. The wall is 50 to 70 cm thick and 1 meter high. When the wall is hit, a roughly 10 cm thick wooden stick is erected every 70 to 100 cm in the center of the south wall. After the wall is formed, pull out the wooden stick to make it a row of air ducts; then at the bottom of each ventilator Dig trenches 30 cm deep and 30 cm wide, opening through the north wall to the ground, so that each ventilator, ventilation trench and air inlet are connected into a ventilation system. Spread two layers of straw and a layer of fine soil on the ventilation ditch. The celery is bundled into 5 to 10kg bales, and the roots are slanted down into the pit. Fill the celery with a layer of fine soil after filling and the leaves are exposed. Afterwards, the cover soil will be covered in stages with the decrease of the outside temperature, covering the total thickness of the soil. It should not exceed 20 cm. When the outside temperature is above -10°C, all ventilation systems can be opened. When the temperature is below -10°C, the air inlet outside the north wall must be blocked to keep the cellar temperature at -2°C to -1°C.

The thawing method of celery is the same as that of spinach. The celery can be thawed at a temperature of 0 22° C. to restore it to a fresh state; or the shaded wall of the south wall can be removed from the wall 5 to 6 days before the storage. Wind barriers, and then cover the cellar surface with a plastic film, a layer of thawed cover soil to remove a layer, leaving the final layer of thin soil to slow thawing celery in the cellar.

2. Prosthetic Storage

After the celery is fully grown, the roots are picked up and planted in pits or ditch. Taiyuan, Beijing, Tianjin and Liaoning have adopted this method. Generally, the width of the furrows is about 1.5 meters. The length is determined according to the reserve. The depth of the furrow depends on the local climatic conditions. Beijing generally uses semi-subterranean type, generally with a ditch depth of about 1 meter [In principle, the distance between the uppermost part of the dish (top part) and the cover should be left as a buffer space], and 2/3 underground. 1/3 on the ground, with the ground hitting the wall with soil; Heilongjiang is using the underground type, the ditch is more than 1.5 meters deep. Divide the celery with roots and shovel the roots to remove bad products. The bundles of 1 to 2 kg bundles are planted in the trenches. Space should be left between the bundles and the bundles to facilitate ventilation and heat dissipation; Trees are placed in the ditch; or single plants and two plants are planted in the soil. Among the above three methods, the single and double planting method has the longest storage period; the bundled method has the largest storage capacity, but due to poor heat dissipation from the center of the vegetable bundle, it tends to yellow and rot, and the storage period is short; the storage effect of individual plants is between Between the above two. In order to facilitate the ventilation and cooling of the trench and prevent the celery from lodging, every 1 meter or so, a bunch of stalks of straw is placed across the celery. The celery after the planting should be immediately irrigated, and the amount of irrigation should be based on the submerged root. Later, depending on the soil, it can be re-irrigated 1 or 2 times. After the celery ditch is covered with straw mats or covered in the roof of the trench, covering the earth, and leave vents. Afterwards, as the outside temperature drops, it will cover the soil in stages to block the air outlet. Ensure that the ditch temperature is around 0°C during storage to prevent freezing damage and high ambient temperature.

3. Plastic film packaging storage

10 to 15 kilograms of celery with short roots are placed in a polyethylene bag with a thickness of 0.08 mm, length of 1 m, and width of 0.75 m. They are tied tightly and layered on the shelf of the cold storage. The storage temperature is controlled at 0 to 2°C. When the oxygen concentration in the bag drops to 5%, open the bag mouth to ventilate the air, and then tighten the bag mouth again when it is stored. When you store for a long time, you can loosen the mouth of the bag, or insert a round bar with a diameter of 15-20 mm before you tie it. After removing the bar, remove the round bar and leave a gap at the opening. This method can be used to store celery from the month of October to the Spring Festival of the following year, and the commodity rate is as high as 85%.
