There are about 114 million people with diabetes in China, but due to problems such as lack of education in diabetes, the awareness rate and control rate of diabetes are extremely low. A few days ago, the Chinese Medical Doctor Association launched the "Basic Insulin Clinical Standard Use Optimization Management Project" (hereinafter referred to as "blood sugar management three-person line" project), patients sent their own blood glucose data to nurses and doctors, and doctors then conducted the patient through the communication platform. Guidance, in order to achieve the goal of fasting blood glucose in the 60% outpatient initial insulin use patients participating in the project. At present, 10 hospitals in Guangzhou have joined the project.
~ Diabetes awareness rate and control rate are extremely low
At present, there are about 114 million diabetic patients in China. According to Guo Xiaotong, director of endocrinology and internal medicine at Peking University First Hospital, a recent national survey showed that the incidence of diabetes in adults reached 11.6%. Of this adult with diabetes, only 30.1% know they have diabetes. Of the patients who knew they had diabetes, only 25.8% were receiving treatment. Among those treated, only 40.7% of men with blood glucose levels (glycated hemoglobin less than 7%) and 38.6% of women.
"The current situation of diabetes is that the awareness rate and control rate are very low." Professor Guo Xiaotong said. Poor blood glucose control is closely related to the lack of diabetes education. Professor Guo Xiaotong pointed out that patients with type 1 diabetes should receive very detailed, intensive and systematic guidance in the first three months after diagnosis, including how to inject insulin, how to eat, how to exercise, and so on. However, in 2011, Ji Lienong and Guo Xiaotong, directors of the Department of Endocrinology at Peking University People's Hospital, and a joint survey of patients with type 1 diabetes found that in Shantou, more than 70% of the patients received less than one hour of education in the first three months after diagnosis. In Beijing, 42% of the students received education in the first three months for 1 to 6 hours; only 7% of the total were educated for more than 12 hours in the first three months after diagnosis.
"At present, both doctors and patients pay more attention to diabetes, which leads to poor blood sugar control and increased overall treatment costs." Guo Xiaoyu said.
The doctor can remotely guide the patient to take the medicine
In response, the Chinese Medical Association teamed up with Sanofi to launch the “Three Blood Sugar Management†program.
Under the management of the “Three-line Blood Sugar Management†program, the doctor first sets the blood sugar control target according to the actual situation of the patient; then the patient uses insulin according to the doctor's advice, detects the blood sugar data and sends it to the nurse; the nurse enters the data into the system, and the system counts the data. Analysis; doctors can monitor the patient's glycemic index on the system through PAD (tablet), compare whether the patient has reached the set goal, and adjust the dose of insulin using SMS follow-up. If the patient needs to adjust the insulin significantly, the doctor will advise the patient to go to the hospital for a follow-up visit. Through the SMS platform, doctors or nurses can also book patients to participate in educational activities to help patients understand the knowledge and skills related to diabetes.
According to reports, April 2014 ~ March 2015 is the first phase of the "Three-year blood sugar management" project. This year, the project is planned to be carried out in about 400 hospitals across the country, covering more than 1,500 full-time diabetes medical staff in 101 cities in 30 provinces across the country, which is expected to benefit 140,000 diabetic patients. Among them, ten hospitals in Guangzhou have confirmed their participation in the project. The project is aimed at patients who use basal insulin, and patients who have prescribed basal insulin in participating hospitals can volunteer to participate in the program.
