Pathway Genomics, along the shoreline, has also deployed a market for blood-circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) testing of nine cancer-driven genes. Guardant Health has announced plans to publish preliminary data (analytical ctDNA) for its multi-site multi-site umbrella trials by the end of the year, using imaging and other techniques to detect patients' blood for early diagnosis of cancer and analysis of individual cancer risk factors .
However, critics believe that for healthy people, this cancer screening still does more harm than good, unless the technology improves sensitivity and selectivity. Walter Koch, director of global research at Roche Medical Diagnostics, said, "The early screening for cancer is still facing a lot of challenges... I am worried that there is not enough clinical data to prove that its development space is as big as people think."
